FAQ

There isn’t just one cause for depression. A person can develop depression from a complex combination of causes including biological differences, brain chemistry, hormones, or inherited traits. Depression can also be a result of a recent life event, disease diagnosis, or a major change.

Behavioral health studies estimate that 80 percent of people with depression feel better when seeking treatment. People who have chemical imbalances that cause depression often feel better with the right combination of treatments and therapy. It can take time to find the right options. These patients must often continue treatment for years or even throughout their lives. However, effective solutions allow the symptoms of depression to go away in time.

There are many different options in the market today, including but not limited to:

• SSRIs (Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors)
• SNRIs (serotonin–norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors)
•Benzodiazepines
•Atypical Depression Medication

Total Behavioral Health will discuss the benefits and risks of each option, and can help recommend a treatment plan based on your unique needs.
